Dear Members of Avon Trail,

With the mounting issues surrounding the Covid-19 virus and the threat to our everyday lives, many of you may be wondering about updates concerning schedules hikes normally offered by Avon Trail.

With the urgency and request from Public Health agencies, Provincial and Federal Government to practice social distancing in efforts to flatten the dramatic increases in cases of the Novel Coronavirus and to assist our Front Line health professionals in managing the influx of patients to hospitals by keeping healthy to the best of our ability, the Avon Trail will CANCEL the following scheduled hikes:

Saturday, March 21, Saturday, April 4th, Sunday, April 19, Saturday, April 25, Wednesday, April 29th, Thursday, April 30th.

Tuesday Morning Rambles: CANCELLED until end of April — update will be sent out on the website

Events:  a) Monday, April 20th — Avon Trail Open Meeting — Wilmot Recreation Centre — CANCELLED

  1. b) Saturday, April 18–Go Wild, Grow Wild Expo ( London)  –CANCELLED by organizers

Go to Blazes Weekend   April 25-26:  Trail Captain Bruce Graham will provide an update closer to that time regarding this work for Trail Monitors.

Trail Maintenance:  Trail Captain will contact maintenance crew regarding work to be done on the trail with regard to the safety of workers travelling to job sites, vehicle travel, tool handling etc. There is no obligation to perform trail work. Anyone ill or under self-isolation naturally please stay home.

Avon Trail wishes everyone to stay healthy through this pandemic crisis. The trail is not closed however we must use common sense in keeping with social distancing. There are ways to go for walks without crowd interaction.
