Autumn is putting on its best show in October, and this is the hike to see it. Join us Saturday, October 17, 8:15 am – 4:00 pm for a 17 km trek through some of the most scenic stretches of the Avon Trail — starting in Musselman Woods, climbing to the Avon Trail’s highest points, then descending through fields and forest toward Waterloo. From there, we’ll wind through two trails in the beautiful Columbia Forest before heading back across the hills to our starting point. Pack a picnic lunch to enjoy along the way!

With moderate pace and terrain — including some hills — this is a good challenge for hikers looking to stretch their legs and take in peak fall colour from some of the region’s best vantage points. Wildwood Challenge hikers can consider this hike a good warm-up for October 24 at Wildwood Lake.
The details:
- Distance: 17 km | Pace: Medium | Terrain: Moderate, with some hilly sections
- Duration: 7 hours 45 minutes total (including 1 hour 10 minutes of driving)
- Meet: Stratford Allman Arena, 8:15 am for an 8:30 am sharp departure. Carpooling available but not guaranteed.
- Wilmot meet-up option: Possible at the hike’s start, but you must be registered for this option in advance.
