In 2015 for Avon Trail’s 40th Anniversary, members took on a project – 40 Trees for 40 Years. The goal was to plant trees along the trail in commemoration. Alas, 25 trees, and not 40 made it into the ground, mostly on private landowners’ land, but some on municipal property (St.Marys, Conestogo).
How many of these trees survive? One for sure. Terry Aitken sent this photo taken recently of a maple tree planted along the trail in a field at km 45.2 “It is thriving”, notes Terry, “and even providing shade”. Does anyone know of the actual locations of other trees from this planting? It would be great to document the location of each of these surviving trees.
