Greetings to Members of the Avon Trail!
The Avon Trail Board cautiously resumed Tuesday Morning Rambles, while monitoring hiker numbers, ever mindful of provincial guidelines for outdoor gatherings.
After months of searching for a new location for the maintenance equipment shed, we are happy to announce that a place is now secured. Hopefully, our maintenance volunteers can start the construction of this shed before the arrival of Winter.
There was a small, blessing ceremony with the completion of a 28-foot bridge spanning Bamberg Creek on September 15th. This bridge was designed and built by a faithful crew of Avon Trail members over July and August with the approval of landowners and the Grand River Conservation Authority. This project also was successful with the support and generous donations from members and friends of Avon Trail.
The Board will be meeting again in October to discuss 2020 AGM details. We initially scheduled this AGM for November 17th at the Stratford Rotary Complex. A physical gathering of all members may not be possible due to the pandemic situation. We are exploring a virtual method to hold the meeting. No guest speaker will participate this year. The AGM will be a business meeting only.
Finally, we are reaching out to members to consider serving a term on our Board. The Board consists of President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Also, four Directors work with the executive and contribute to the decisions made. A board term is generally for two years. There will be openings before the end of the year as some members are completing their term. Meetings are typically held once per month except for December and July. The Avon Trail cannot function without your help! If you have an interest in working as a Board member or have questions about the Board, please reach out to info@avontrail.ca.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
