Good News! Some great members have agreed to fill “Boots on the Ground” positions in 2025.

Roland Plum is now the Avon Trail Maintenance Coordinator. This very important role includes the planning and execution of emergency trail improvements. For example, fallen trees that may be blocking sections of trail need to be cut and removed. Maintenance team volunteers meet for a breakfast meeting, most Fridays, which Roland chairs to schedule maintenance fixes. Do you want to join the maintenance team? Training is provided and new members are welcome.

Thank you, Roland, and the Avon Trail maintenance team for all you do.

Linda Weitzel is now the Avon Trail Landowner Relations Coordinator. In this role, Linda liaisons with landowners when questions arise about the trail and its use. When the need arises, Linda will help plan new trail routes with landowners, the Trail Captain, and the Trail  Map Coordinator.

Above all, Linda will cultivate good relationships with all landowners.

Christine Lee has agreed to be the Avon Trail Monitor Coordinator. In this role she will liaison with the  trail monitors volunteers who groom sections of our 130km trail. A reminder to members – trail monitors rock and you too can be a trail monitor. (See this story for background).

In addition to this role, she also represents Avon Trail on the City of Stratford’s Active Transportation Advisory Committee (ATAC).

Alana Respondek is now our Membership Secretary, taking over from Noreen Olivier. In this role Alana will maintain the membership portal via the Avon Trail website.  Alana will also work with the Avon Trail webmaster  to resolve any membership systems issues or navigation problems that may occur.

Thanks to Roland, Linda, Christine and Alana for stepping up on behalf of the Avon Trail. The next time you see any of them, be certain to offer your thanks. As all members  who volunteer their time on behalf of the Avon Trail know, our Club is worth the investment!
