RIVERVIEW WALKWAY NOW OPEN

The Riverview Walkway along the Thames River in St. Marys is now open for trail hiking from the Tennis Courts heading west. You can also park at the Milt Dunnell Field closer to the railway trestle.

GRAND TRUNK WALKWAY DESCENT TO FLATS WARNING

The St. Mary’s Parks and Operations department installed two signs warning against descending from the Grand Trunk Walkway to the Flats heading east on the trail. Hikers can reach the Flats by the staircase to Emily Street and a walking path into the Flats from Water Street.

SEASONAL TRAIL CLOSURE ALERTS

ORGANIC LOOP (KM 93.0 – 96.0) & MUSSLEMAN WOODS / SCHNEIDER’S BUSH (KM 96.9 – 101.5)

November 30 – April 15. No trail walking, Cross-country skiing only.

These sections of the Avon Trail have additional specific limitations related to their use, in addition to the Trail User’s Code. Please respect the landowner’s wishes and abide by the following restrictions:

No dogs, no trail running and no snowshoeing at any time.

Outside of the above restricted periods, do not walk when the ground is wet or there are snowy conditions.

MUSSELMAN WOODS / SCHNEIDER’S BUSH (KM 96.9 – 101.5)

Please follow the white blazes with extra care when traversing the Avon Trail within Musselman Woods / Schneider’s Bush. Be aware that there are now additional coloured blazes marking other side trails ( not related to the Avon Trail) in this section.
