Hike Ontario’s annual Summit conference will take place in conjunction with the Hike Haliburton Festival, Sept. 21- 24, 2017.

Haliburton boasts great hiking trails. The Summit AGM will elect officers and offer workshops of interest to hikers. Registration will be open in July on the Hike Ontario website, www.hikeontario.com.

At the May 27 board meeting, Past President Tom Friesen reported he had taught hike leaders’ courses, consulted with other stake-holders relating to the hiking community while continuing to oversee the operations of Hike Ontario along with David Rosenblun-Bourdieu, Program Manager in the Oakville office of Hike Ontario.

Hike Ontario continues to promote “Healthy Parks, Healthy People” this year, a cooperative venture with Provincial Parks in Ontario. It gives free day pass access to everyone to any provincial park on July 21. Hike Ontario also is promoting Coleman’s Canada ‘Get Outside Day’, July 14. Visit www.getoutsidecanada.com for promotions connected to this event.
