Meeting: Rd. 111 at the bridge over Avon River, about ½ km north of Hwy 7/8 (43.376262,-80.937814).  Home Hardware is at the corner of Rd. 111 and Hwy 7/8.

Time:  1:30 pm. The hike will be approximately 1.5 hrs.  Car shuffle will be used.

Hike Route Overview:  This hike begins near the east end of the Stratford Side Trail; it includes a canopied walk along the Avon River beside crop land.  It junctions with the main Avon Trail where it passes through a mature woodlot, then through the Little Lakes valley to the Forest Rd. Motel.  Apart from one descent, it is mostly flat terrain.   All are welcome from grandkids to seniors and everyone in between.  This is the first of nine Family hikes celebrating the Avon Trail’s 45^th anniversary year. Refreshments will be served at the end of the hike.

Recommendations:  Dress in layers, and appropriately for the weather forecast.  Good supportive walking shoes or boots recommended.  Mitts and toque may be needed depending on the weather.  Walking poles are optional.
