Binoculars may be helpful.  From there\, we will explore other trails in the New Hamburg area

SUMMARY:9TH ANNUAL WILDWOOD CHALLENGE
DESCRIPTION:Registration opens July 2\, 2026\, in the Shop at avontrail.ca.  PLEASE ONLY REGISTER ONE HIKER PER PURCHASE. \n \nThis supported hike is an opportunity to help support the Avon Trail in funding trail maintenance. \n \nUpon completion\, each hiker will receive a newly designed badge specially designed for this event. Whether you walk the full 22km loop around Wildwood Lake or need to leave earlier at 9km or 17km\, you still receive a badge.\n \nLimited spots are available. Once registered\, no refund is possible.\n \nThe Avon Trail thanks you for your support. \n \nEvent cost: $35 per person.\n \nPlease note: Wildwood charges an $11 parking fee per vehicle (no extra charge for multiple passengers) at the entrance to Wildwood.  This is not covered by the Event fee.\n \n Distance: 22 km\n \n Pace: hike at your own pace\n \n Terrain: moderate\n \n Duration: should take between 4 and 6 hours\, depending on the walker.\n \nRain or Shine\n \n Meeting time: 8:20 am\n\n \n Meeting place: Wildwood Conservation Area kiosk\, 3995 Line 9\, St. Marys\, ON\n \n Hike Route Overview: Hikers will follow the Wildwood Lake trail\, counterclockwise\, with beautiful woodland walking and lake views.  The route offers two rest stations with snacks and hot drinks.\n \nDROP OUTS: Dropouts from rest stops are possible at 9km and 17km.  A ride back to your car is offered\, should you need it.\n \nRecommendations: dress according to the weather and wear good walking shoes/boots\, bring a hat and dress in layers. Bring lunch and plenty of water.\n \nPARTICIPANTS are invited to a 7:00 pm post-hike gathering at Bruce’s house in Stratford.
