The Ministry of Transportation issued a Certificate of Appreciation to the Avon Trail volunteers who, through the Adopt-a-Highway cleanup program, have “made a significant contribution to a cleaner environment.”
Brian and Brenda Tarr received the certificate in December on behalf of Avon Trail. They have organized Avon Trail member volunteers in litter cleanups events along a 4-kilometre section of Highway 7/8 running from the Stratford Side Trail to line 110.
Twice a year, Brian arranges an evening for volunteers to participate in a safe, organized manner to clean litter debris along the roadside ditches both east and west on this highway section. In 2020, the first cleanup event will take place Wednesday evening, April 29. More details will follow closer to the date. What you will need to help is a pair of work gloves. Everything else, safety vests to wear and bags for collected rubbish, are provided. See this link found under the RESOURCES tab on the Avon Trail website to understand better how you can help.
