About the Avon Trail ... continued from homepage

The Avon Trail

Most of the trail runs through scenic farmland and meanders along small rivers and streams. Since it is a continuous long distance trail, it also follows a few country back roads, and occasionally a busier route through the small towns in its path. The trail is marked at regular intervals by white rectangular blazes. Motorized vehicles, camping, and fires, are not permitted on the trail. The Avon Trail provides hiking opportunities led by volunteer leaders. It has the following objectives:

  • bullet stimulate an interest in hiking
  • bullet establish and maintain trails for hiking
  • bullet encourage awareness of the natural environment
  • bullet promote the conservation of the environment

The Avon Trail has two members' meetings each year and one annual general meeting. All are held at the Stratford Kiwanis Community Centre Complex, 111 Lakeside Drive, Stratford, Ontario at 7:00 p.m. The Avon Trail became a Canadian Registered Charity with the Canada Revenue Agency on May 16th, 1989 and our CRA Registration Number is 891197972RR0001.
